Difference between Raster Scan And Random Scan


Raster Scan: -

1. IT has poor or less Resolution Because picture definition is stored as an intensity value.
2. Electron beam is directed from top to bottom and one row at a time on screen but electron beam is directed to whole screen.
3. It is less expensive then Random scan.
4. In Raster 60 to 80 frames per second. 
5. It stores picture definition in refress buffer also called from buffer.
6. Zig-Zag line is produced because plotted value is discrete.
7. It uses pixels along lines for drawing an image.


Random Scan: -

1. It has high resolution because it stores picture definition as a set of line command.
2. Electron beam is directed to only that part of screen where picture is required to be drown. One line at a time is called vector display.
3. It is costly then raster.
4. 30-60 times per second but depends upon number of lines.
5. It stores picture definition as a set of line commands called refress display pip.
6. Smooth line is produced because directly the line path is followed by electron beam.
7. It is design for line drawing application and uses various mathematical function to draw.
