1727: Jean-Georges Noverre, creator of modern ballet dance, is born. On the occasion of his birth, International Dance Day is celebrated globally on 29 April every year. The day was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO.

1813:  J. F. Hummel patented rubber in the US.

1848: Renowned painter Raja Ravi Varma was born.

1919: Indian tabla player Allah Rakha was born.

1930: Telephone service started between Britain and Australia.

1939: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose resigned from Congress.

1958: Indian historian and writer Ramachandra Guha was born.

2020: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan informed that India will produce indigenous rapid test kits to promote India's efforts to incorporate COVID-19 by the end of May. The Health Minister called on all scientists to expedite COVID-19 mitigation solutions.
